In 2021, the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) was established as a professional Twenty20 cricket league. Six franchises make up the league. Five teams represent Azad Kashmir’s five biggest cities, while one squad represents Kashmiris living abroad.
Teams compete in a single round-robin competition, with the top four teams qualifying for the playoffs and, eventually, the championship. Kashmir Premier League matches will no longer have official T20 status as of August 2021.
