Gomal University (GU) is a public university in the Pakistani city of Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It was founded in 1974. It is the second oldest university in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and has one of the province’s largest campuses.
It was established by Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who laid the foundation stone for Gomal University in DI Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On May 1, 1974, Prime Minister Bhutto laid the foundation stone for Gomal University and continued his policy of a highly educated Pakistan to meet modern global challenges in all walks of life.
Nawabullah Nawaz Khan, the University’s first and founding Vice-Chancellor, made the donation and provided the land. Nawaz Khan donated 11000 Kn of agricultural land for the university’s establishment.
