Uni Introduction:

In the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the National Defence University (NDU), originally the Army War Course (1963–1970) and National Defence College (1970–2007), is a military university having the legal standing of a public university. The training of 200 foreign participants as well as the Armed Forces, notably the Pakistan Military Forces, has received attention.

It was first founded in Rawalpindi on May 28, 1970, and its educational tenets centre on military strategy, national security, martial arts, among command disciplines, and other specialised academic fields. One of the oldest military academies in the nation, it also offers supplementary enrollment for public servants.

Its first Chief Instructor was designated as Brigadier Muhammad Ahmed, and its first Commandant was General Abdul Hameed Khan. The Chief of Staff suggests designating and dismissing the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who is typically a three-star military general. The President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is selected as its Chancellor.

The NDU operated as the nation’s national university until March 2007. In 2007, the Pakistani government elevated it to the rank of a university, and the Naval War College became the Armed Forces War College, which is currently a component of the National Defence University. The Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee reinstated the Army War Course, Armed Forces War Course, and National Defence Course faculty two years following their renovation. Originally intended to be the sole element of the university, they are currently referred to as the National Security and War Course.
